Meet Kathleen Barquin, the Springfield State Hospital: Historical Society's Official Vice President. Read on to discover more about her work, mission, and dedication to preserving Springfield’s history.

Kathleen's Story

Kathleen has lived in Eldersburg for the past 23 years and recently began volunteering with the Springfield State Hospital: Historical Society after touring the facilities and meeting the newly formed nonprofit's founder, Brennan VanderVeer. She has long been passionate about historical preservation and is grateful for the opportunity to help preserve the beautiful and historic buildings of SHC while honoring the stories of the people and community connected to them.

Professionally, Kathleen supports senior leaders across nonprofit, education, and mission-driven organizations, and previously worked as a web designer for the National Science Foundation before running her own Carroll County web design business serving nonprofits and small businesses. She began her career teaching early childhood special education in Annapolis and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education. She lives with her husband Augie, their dog, Finn, and is the proud mother of three wonderful grown children.
