Edward Devan III

Meet Edward Devan III, a committee member at the Springfield State Hospital: Historical Society. Read on to discover more about his work, mission, and dedication to preserving Springfield’s history.

Edward's Story

Edward is a born and raised Sykesville/Eldersburg resident who has always had a burning passion and interest in Springfield Hospital Center. Growing up down the street from the institution, he has never felt as though it was a taboo subject in town and knew that Springfield was just a part of the way of life in town.

In many ways Springfield sparked a greater passion in Edward. Since graduating from Towson University, he has gone on to support and assist with several preservation projects around the country. Many of these projects taking place at large institutions. Some of these efforts include the Cresson Sanitarium & Prison in Cresson, PA, the SS United States, a former ocean liner that ran tours before being sunk as an artificial reef, and the Rainsworth Lodge in Gettysburg, PA. His experience in the field of preservation will be an invaluable asset at Springfield and he is very excited to be involved with the project.
