Brandon's Story
While Brandon is not from Sykesville, he has known about and has been intrigued by Springfield and its history for several years now. With a passion for historic preservation, Brandon also has an immense interest in Springfield and the history of psychiatric care. He attended several of the historic walking tours offered by Springfield Hospital Center before joining the team as a guide.
He has gone on to support and assist with a wide range of historic preservation projects throughout the country, many of which have been undertaken at large institutions and nationally significant sites. Over the years, he has gained valuable hands-on experience working with diverse preservation initiatives, helping to safeguard and interpret important pieces of our shared cultural and historical heritage. Among these projects are the Cresson Sanatorium & Prison, a sprawling and historically significant former medical and correctional complex; the SS United States, the legendary ocean liner that welcomed visitors through public tours before ultimately being repurposed as an artificial reef; and Rainsworth Lodge, a site closely connected to the rich history of the Gettysburg area. Through his involvement in these and many other preservation efforts, he has developed a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with protecting historic resources for future generations. His depth of experience, dedication to preservation, and passion for historic stewardship will be invaluable assets to Springfield, and he is genuinely excited for the opportunity to contribute to the project and help ensure its long-term success.
